South San Gabriel

South San Gabriel was an alternative country band based out of Denton, Texas. The band was named after the San Gabriel river fork north of Austin, Texas. The group consisted of the same players from Centro-matic with the inclusion of guests, but focused on more introspective and subdued offerings. Lead singer Will Johnson alternated between the two projects in the 2000s while also releasing solo albums.

Misra Records released The Carlton Chronicles: Not Until The Operation's Through in 2005. In 2008, the band released Dual Hawks, a split double-album with Centro-matic. The group then disbanded in 2010, with a reunion occuring in 2017.

Will Johnson has since embarked on a successful solo career recording and performing independently. He is now also a painter.
