R. Ring

R. Ring is the stripped-down indie pop project of the Breeders' Kelley Deal and Mike Montgomery, guitarist for the post-rock band Ampline. The pair met in 2010, when the Breeders had finished touring in support of Mountain Battles and Deal was invited to record a song for a Guided by Voices tribute album. Her backing band, Buffalo Killers, suggested Montgomery's studio Candyland in Cincinnati (he later moved the studio to Dayton, Kentucky, an amusing parallel with Deal's home base of Dayton, Ohio). They enjoyed working together so much that they began working on their own material. This included the 2012 single "Fallout & Fire”, which Misra released in 2012.

Several songs from previous assorted EPs and singles were collected on R. Ring's debut album Ignite the Rest, which Montgomery’s own label Sofa Burn Records released in April 2017.
