Editors Present: Mobius Band "Heaven" Released in theU.K.!!

To those who saw Editors on their UK tour in 2008, Mobius Band will be instantly familiar. The bond between the New York based trio of Peter Sax, Noam Schatz and Ben Sterling and the Birmingham quartet was evident on every date of that tour with the members of Editors thoroughly enthused about Mobius Bands album ‘Heaven’. Mobius Band and Editors first met on Editors debut US tour and, as bass player Russell Leech explains, it wasn’t quite love at first sight

‘The opening band rolled up and I think managed to insult pretty much everybody within 24 hours of meeting us all. We thought that we had chosen badly. A few days later and after a great gig in Toronto we went out drinking with Mobius Band. We still didn't know how to take them, they had this intelligent, sadistic humour that was witty and quick. It took time to come round and to click but after 3 more weeks on tour we were all great friends.’

That friendship led to a growing admiration from the four Editors for their new found friends music. As the band’s early EP’s and debut US album release ‘The Loving Sounds Of Static’ (2005) underwent heavy rotation on the Editors tour bus discussions began about how Editors could use their position within the UK as platinum artists to get this music out to the public. Then they heard ‘Heaven’, and the plan became increasingly urgent as Russell remembers:

‘When ‘Heaven’ was released the record blew us away. Our favorite track would change from week to week and we had to have the band come play the album to our fans in Europe. They went down superbly well and sold more CD's on the road than they had in total previously. It made sense for us to help out further and to
put the record out.’

Which is how Editors came to present Mobius Band’s Heaven in the UK. Fuelled by a dual love of the dynamic of pop songs and the possibilities of experimentation, shot through with sounds developed from Noam’s passion for gutting and re-assembling toy keyboards, ‘Heaven’ pulses, crackles and hums through its ten tracks. Self recorded by the band with engineering assistance from Emery Dobyns (Antony and the Johnsons. Battles) and Eric Spring, the tracks came together in between these bouts of touring with Editors, Tom Vek and The National in both the USA and Europe.

Editors Present Mobius Band 'Heaven' available in U.K. stores at HMV, Amazon U.K., and Rough Trade and digitally at iTunes U.K.

Validate Me- Some SF Hometown Love for Southeast Engine in The San Francisco Bay Guardian

Southeast Engine quivers and lopes toward the deluge:

"For all of its occasional echoes of other lonesome-howl enthusiasts -- the aforementioned [Will] Oldham (Bonnie "Prince" Billy) and [Jason] Molina ventures, as well as Phosphorescent and maybe Castanets -- From The Forest To The Sea offers up a distinct essence of its own. Distinctive enough, I should add, that I can't wait to dive into their back-catalog..." - The San Francisco Bay Guardian

Southeast Engine From the Forest to the Sea Out Today!!

Southeast Engine's fourth full-length album, From the Forest to the Sea, has officially dropped online and all across retail land! You needn't go any further, however, than here to score your very own copy of this amazing record. The album is available digtially, on CD and LP.

Already darlings in the press, great features and reviews have been rolling in including spots on Cokemachineglow.com, Daytrotter, and Randomville. The band also made a video for the albums first single, "Black Gold", which was debuted on Stereogum. Finally, keep your eyes peeled for the forthcoming documentary on the making of From the Forest to the Sea - recorded in an abandoned middle school in the remote hills of Ohio - directed by D.C. filmmaker Thomas R. Britt.

The band has lined-up a great bunch of shows to celebrate the new album on their way down to SXSW where they'll be playing the Misra Showcase. See you there!

Mobius Band - Empire of Love EP
Click here to download EP (39.8 Mb zip)

Tracklist:

1. Say You Will (Kanye West)
2. Love Hurts (The Everly Brothers)
3. Lullaby (Dixie Chicks)
4. Satellite (TV On The Radio)
5. At My Window (Townes Van Zandt)
6. You Don't Know How It Feels (Tom Petty)

Once again Mobius Band, relentless romantics that they are, are showering us with love this Valentine's Day with their brand new EP "Empire of Love". The EP was recorded in a friend's empty house in North Bennington, VT just a couple weeks ago (yes - literally empty save for three rugs and a piano that couldn¹t be moved).  They brought in all of the recording equipment and instruments along with sleeping bags, food, pans, etc. (just like camping!), set everything up in one room, decided what covers to record on the spot, and made this EP in four days.

Mobius Band will also be performing Monday 2/16 at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn with The Duke Spirit.

Southeast Engine Video for "Black Gold"

Southeast Engine unveil their video for "Black Gold", the sixth track off their forthcoming album From the Forest the Sea - directed by Washington D.C. filmmaker Thomas R.Britt. Filmed in and around the Mall in D.C. the video features the band on a highly covert and random mission that ultimately ends in gas masks. "Black Gold" premiered this week by the good folks at Stereogum.
